Local Government Super (LGS) has announced that its current chair, Craig Peate, will step down, effective 30 June 2017.

Peate has over 35 years' experience working with Tweed Shire Council and was appointed to the LGS board by the United Services Union on 25 October 2012. He was appointed chair of the $10 billion fund in March 2015.

Succeeding him as chair is Katherine O'Regan, who has been a member of the board since April 2015.

Peate will remain on the board as deputy chair.
