Chris de Wit has joined KPMG as a partner in the firm's expanded risk consulting advisory. He'll look after the governance, risk, and controls advisory.

de Wit comes from Westpac where he spent the last two years as the global head of financial crime transformation, leading the bank's strategic response to regulatory issues. He previously spent time with AIA in New Zealand as chief integration officer, leading the integration of NZ's largest life insurer, Sovereign, into the AIA group.

de Wit also spent more than 15 years with EY in New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Singapore.

He's joined by Kat Conner, who has been named partner in risk strategy, and technology.

"We are delighted to recruit such high-quality individuals," said KPMG partner in charge of the risk strategy and technology area, Rob Warren. "They will add considerable expertise to our already strong and growing risk management and consulting teams.

"The financial services sector faces significant challenges and opportunities in areas such as risk strategy, risk governance and operating models, risk culture and conduct, control environments and regulatory-driven transformation. This recruitment bolsters KPMG's capacity to meet growing industry demand."
