Jarden has appointed Ben Brownette as head of emerging companies research.

Brownette joined the broker about a year ago as a vice president of equity research covering gaming and emerging companies.

Jarden head of research Ben Gilbert said Brownette will work closely with Rohan Gallagher to drive the firm's small-cap strategy alongside MattJohnston and Olivia Salmon.

The trio will be supported by Sona Fernandes and Wilson Wong.

Currently, Jarden covers 25 emerging companies in Australia.

"Emerging companies is a priority focus for Jarden and we will continue to invest in this space across our business," said Jarden Australia chief executive Robbie Vanderzeil when Gallagher joined in February as managing director tasked with running sales, research, and corporate broking on the small-cap sector.

Before Jarden, Brownette worked at CLSA, Deutsche Bank, the Commonwealth Bank, and Northern Trust Global Investments.

At the CBA, he covered developers and contractors as he did at Aegis, an independent research group for the three years previous.

In April, Jarden hired Yarra Capital Management's Ben Lyons and Euroz Hartley's Jon Bishop to run resources research out of Perth.
