IOOF names new Portfolio Manager, Alternatives

Ray King has joined IOOF Investments as portfolio manager, alternatives, based in the firm's Melbourne office.

King has over 25 years' industry experience, having previously held asset management roles at Towers Perrin and Industry Fund Services, where he was responsible for developing their asset consulting and funds management businesses. In 2000, he founded Sovereign Investment Research, which provides specialist investment advice and consulting to institutional investors and investment managers, and that same year was the founding chair of the Australian Chapter of IMCA.

King also spent three years as an investment adviser and partner at Mercer. Following a global restructure of Mercer's Private Markets Group, he left the business in 2015 to re-establish Sovereign Investment Research.

Commenting on King's appointment, IOOF chief investment officer Steve Merlicek said: "Ray is a respected industry leader and we are delighted he is joining the IOOF team. He is a very capable specialist on alternative assets, having worked as an adviser with a vast number of superannuation funds since 1990 to establish some of the largest investment programs in Australia."
