IOOF has confirmed the appointment of Miriam Herold to the role of head of managed fund research.

Herold was previously the firm's senior research manager for growth assets, reporting to group head of research and portfolio construction, Matthew Drennan.

In a statement explaining the changes, IOOF said: "Under the stewardship of Matthew Drennan, IOOF has strengthened its research function through a combination of recruiting additional experienced staff and partnering with both Morningstar, for direct equities support, and Lonsec for managed funds support to provide additional capabilities. From today the IOOF Research function has separated out its direct equities function from the managed funds research role.

"Direct equities is headed by Elan Miller who joined IOOF in 2015 after spending ten years at Pengana Capital as a Portfolio Manager. Elan is supported by Equities Analysts Jake Bowmer and Eric Chim, as well as Research Analyst Daniel Stojanovski. Paul Saliba will continue to have oversight of equity research in his ongoing role as Head of Equities and Portfolio Construction.

"The Managed funds team will now be headed by Miriam Herold who also joined the IOOF team in 2015 with over 16 years' experience across all major asset classes in both Sydney and London. Miriam is supported by Research Analysts Robbie Lew and Alex Harris."

Prior to joining IOOF, Herold was a portfolio manager at AMP focussing on the investment of the Life company's statutory funds in both listed and unlisted assets. Before this, she managed Australian equities at boutique manager Pengana Capital and worked as an analyst at J.P. Morgan, CBA, Dresdner Kleinwort, Henderson Global Investors and AMP Capital.
