Insignia Financial has appointed Chris Weldon as chief client officer of the newly formed client wellbeing division.

Outgoing chief executive Renato Mota announced the appointment during a quarterly update on Thursday.

In the ASX release, Mota said the new division is responsible for creating more client value, focusing on client engagement and retention of the group's products and services.

Weldon - who has been at Insignia Financial for 12 years - has held various leadership roles across the group.

He previously served as chief transformation officer where he led large-scale transformation, including the integration of IOOF, ANZ Pension and Investments and MLC businesses to form Insignia Financial.

He joined in 2010 from MLC where he oversaw product management for wrap investment products.

Weldon has also worked at Aviva and Challenger.

Speaking of the new role, he said Insignia Financial's ambition is to create financial wellbeing for every Australian.

"The set-up of our new client wellbeing division will enable us to reach more Australians, supporting them with help, guidance and advice when they need it most."
