Sandi Orleow has been named as an independent director to Local Government Super.
Orleow joins Kyle Loades, the fund's first independent chair, as new appointees.
In a statement, LGS said the appointments enhance the diversity of experiences for the board and will help provide fresh perspective and direction for the organisation.
Outgoing chairperson Bruce Miller will remain on the board as deputy chair.
The change comes after the $12 billion superannuation fund amended its constitution in June in response to meeting APRA's expectations.
