Allan Stewart has stepped down as the inaugural co-chair of First Super - the $2.3b industry fund for the timber, pulp, paper and furniture industry - after eight years in the role.

He will continue as an employer representative director of the fund and has handed his co-chair reins to fellow director Lisa Marty, First Super's first female co-chair. She will share the role with Michael O'Connor who will continue as co-chair.

Stewart has over twenty years' experience as a trustee and director of superannuation funds and has worked in the timber, forest and forest products for over forty years.

He was the CEO of one of Australia's privately owned hardwood sawmilling groups for thirty years, prior to his resignation to commence his own consultancy business in 1998.

According to First Super, his current consultancy interests are focused on the development of Renewable Energy Power Stations utilising biomass fuel sourced from the forest and forest products and agricultural industries within Australia.
