Ignition hires regional director

Ignition Advice has strengthened its regional business development team with the appointment of  Darren Speirs to handle the Asia-Pacific.

Former Bravura Solutions head of portfolio solutions Darren Speirs has been recruited as Ignition's new business development director for the region.

His appointment follows last month's hire of Enda Mahoney as chief platform and technology officer.

Speirs has over 25 years in the Australian wealth management industry, most recently as head of portfolio solutions at Bravura where he spent 16 years.

Previous roles include at Westpac and Macquarie Bank.

Based in Sydney, Speirs will report to Ignition's chief commercial officer Eric Welsby.

Ignition Group chief executive officer Terry Donohoe said the recruit had an extensive background in delivering sales growth and building client relationships.

"His deep understanding of the APAC wealth technology market- from advice through to member administration - will be instrumental in furthering our successes in the region," he said.

Meanwhile, Speirs said he is looking forward to working with a team to build an advice specialist for institutions that need to quickly and efficiently scale their advice propositions across multiple distribution models.
