Hartzer begins consulting with Sayers

Ex-Westpac chief executive Brian Hartzer has begun consulting with Sayers, an investment and advisory business founded last year. He's working as a senior advisor on a part-time business.

Commenting on his appointment, a spokesperson for the organisation said, "At Sayers, we are determined to bring together the brightest and the best. As an experienced executive, leadership mentor and investor, Brian's strategic insight will make a meaningful contribution to our clients and our business."

Sayers was founded in 2020 and backed by private capital from Australia and the US. Founder and executive chair Lyke Sayers said of Hartzer's appointment, "Your unique insight and strategic advice is a game changer for our clients and our firm."

Hartzer left Westpac in late 2019 following a series of scandals around allegations of money laundering. He had been affiliated with the group for more than seven years as CEO of Australian financial services and group chief executive. He also held senior executive roles with ANZ, RBS, and the First Manhattan Consulting Group.

Since leaving executive life, Hartzer has been providing advisory services with financial services tech provider Qantium. He also became a trustee with the Australian Museum, serving as chair of the Australian Museum Foundation Trust.
