The fund manager has appointed Michael Angwin to the newly created role of consultant and wholesale distribution.
Angwin will work as part of the Sydney-based distribution team and focus on retail asset consultants, family offices, private wealth clients and independent financial advisers.
He joins from BMO Global Asset Management, where he helped build the company's intermediary channel for the last eight years.
He left BMO earlier this year after Columbia Threadneedle Investments mounted a takeover for the asset manager.
Previously he worked for AQR Capital Management, the alternative investment solutions provider, van Eyk Research, and Commonwealth Bank.
"Michael has an impressive track record in business development, and an extensive network that will serve him well in this new role," said GSFM chief executive Damien McIntyre.
"As demand for GSFM's funds continues to grow, Michael is a welcome addition to the team.
Stephen Fletcher, head of retail distribution at GSFM, noted Angwin's many years of experience working in the retail and wholesale intermediary market.
"His relationships and proven ability in servicing the needs of clients will be of great value," he said.
"Retail asset consultants, family offices and private wealth clients are important markets for GSFM, and Michael's background and expertise in targeting this segment make him ideally suited to the position.
"He is well placed to play a key role in further developing and executing the strategies of the wholesale distribution team."
McIntyre noted that Angwin's appointment is the second to the distribution team in Sydney in the past two months.
Andrew Koolman was hired as the key account manager last month.
Earlier this year, Steven Taylor was appointed national distribution manager, and Simone Newman a key account manager for Victoria and Tasmania.
