FSC appoints Bell chief as director

The Financial Services Council has appointed Nick Fels, the chief executive of Bell Asset Management, to the board.

Fels brings more than 20 years of experience in managing investment operations to the FSC board.

He joined Bell Asset Management in 2008 as head of operations before being promoted to chief executive nine years later.

Before that, Fels held two senior positions at Bell Potter Securities. Initially, he was head of risk management but later became director of portfolio administration.

Earlier, he spent nearly seven years at UBS as head of risk and nine years with National Australia Bank as manager of common funds and investment.

FSC chair David Bryant noted that Fels was a highly accomplished business leader with specialist knowledge in governance, risk management, fund administration, investment management, and distribution.

"Nick is a welcome addition to the FSC board and his wealth of experience and knowledge of the financial services industry will be valued," he said.

Fels said he was pleased to support the Council which is playing a vital role in contributing to good public policy for Australia's financial services sector.
