FSC adds two board members

The Financial Services Council has invited Insignia Financial chief Renato Mota and UBS Asset Management country head Alison Telfer onto the board.

Mota is well-known for leading Insignia's transformation strategy, including the acquisition of MLC.

Before moving to Insignia, he worked for Rothschild and NAB in corporate finance roles with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.

For her part, Telfer has held a range of roles within the industry spanning product development, strategy and client distribution to legal and government affairs.

Prior to UBS, Telfer was BlackRock Asset Management's chief operating officer for Australasia and was the executive sponsor for BlackRock's Philanthropic Committee and Women's Initiative Australasia.

Commenting on the new appointments FSC chairman David Bryant said both bring extensive knowledge and experience to the board further strengthening the FSC's contribution to financial services consumers.

"Renato and Alison's appointment reflects the senior industry leadership the FSC brings to help the Government and regulators solve common public policy challenges," he said.

"{They} share the FSC's commitment to a more competitive, efficient, and growing financial services sector that delivers high-quality products for Australian consumers.

Mota said he was pleased to take on the role of director of the FSC board which works to improve the long-term financial wellbeing of all Australians
