TasBuild has appointed a former Spirit Super head of public markets as its new chief executive.

The private trustee company that operates the portable long service scheme Tasmanian employers in the construction industry recruited Mark Williams to replace Michael Irwin, who is retiring.

Williams has worked extensively in the superannuation and financial planning sectors, spending 15 years at Tasplan Super as investment head in the final two years and moving to general manager of public markets following a restructure post the merger with MTAA Super.

He departed Spirit Super in late 2022 to take on the job of manager of finance & investment at the Public Trustee (Tasmania)

Williams said he looks forward to working with the TasBuild team in continuing the great work already done in raising the profile of the Fund and strengthening the relationships within the building and construction industry.

"I am a proud and passionate Tasmanian who has strong family ties to the industry that go back many years," he said.

The incoming chief executive said he looks forward to renewing his working relationship with the TasBuild chair, Susan Parr, who is a member of the Spirit Super board.
