Former Dept of Finance Secretary joins ANZ board

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) has announced that Jane Halton will join its board, effective immediately.

Halton was previously secretary of the Australian Department of Finance, responsible for supporting the delivery of the Australian Government budget, the ongoing management of the Australian Government's non-defence domestic property portfolio, key asset sales and the financial framework for Australian Government agencies.

Prior to this, she was secretary of the Australian Department of Health, secretary of the Department of Health and Ageing, and executive co-ordinator (deputy secretary) of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Commenting on her appointment, ANZ chair, David Gonski, said: "I am delighted to have Jane join the ANZ Board. Her experience in finance, insurance, risk management, information technology, human resources, health and ageing and public policy and her international experience will be of significant benefit to the board."
