The former chief executive of legalsuper has joined an investment fintech as an advisor.

Andrew Proebstl - who ran the superannuation fund for the legal community for 20 years - has started an advisory role with Tanggram, the smart wealth-creating app.

Commenting on the appointment, Tanggram Nick Tang welcomed Proebstl as a new member of our advisory board.

"His extensive industry experience and leadership will undoubtedly provide invaluable insights and guidance to our team. The entire Tanggram team extends a warm welcome to him."

"We believe that Andrew's appointment will help Tanggram continue to expand our investment and superannuation offerings in the near future"

The former chief executive has long held the view that a super fund does not have to be a mega fund to be successful or sustainable.

He has often said smaller funds can be more clever, nimble, and connected with their members.

Proebstl reckons smaller funds also provide an alternative for people who want more than a 'one size fits all' offering.

Moreover, he thinks new technologies play a big role in amplifying the strengths of smaller funds and for conventional thinking in the super industry to be disrupted.

"I believe that new technologies provide a unique opportunity for disruption in the super industry and look forward to advising Tanggram as they build out their investment and superannuation capabilities," he said.

"I bring my long-term experience in the super industry, which includes both what works well and what needs to improve."

Why Tanggram?

"Tanggram's aspiration is to build their super capability so that it is a deeper offering that has more social impact and broadens the way people think about investment and their investment priorities."

Proebstl commenced his career as a chartered accountant and has held executive roles across superannuation funds, investment managers and fund administrators.
