Morrison & Co has appointed Geraldine Buckingham as a non-executive director as the infrastructure investor continues to grow its presence in North America, the UK and Europe.

Buckingham joins the board following an executive career in funds management and financial services.

She spent seven years working at BlackRock and most recently served as chair of Asia Pacific.

Earlier, Buckingham served as global head of corporate strategy at BlackRock and a partner with McKinsey & Company's New York financial services practice.

There, she worked primarily with large global asset managers with additional experience in wealth management and private equity, as well as functional expertise in strategy and organisation.

Immediately following this role, she acted as senior adviser to BlackRock's chairman and chief executive Larry Fink until she retired at the end of 2021.

Buckingham was named in Fortune Magazine and Crain's New York Business' "40 Under 40" lists for 2017.

Currently, she sits on the boards of HSBC Holdings plc and Brunswick Group Partnership. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of Climateworks Australia.

Morrison & Co chair Rob Morrison said: "Following Kate Mingay's appointment as a non-executive director last year, the addition of Geraldine means we now have a Board that reflects the firm's growing global footprint.

The board appointment comes as Susannah Bourke, an investor relations executive at ISPT, joins the New Zealand-headquartered firm.

As director of investor solutions, Bourke will focus on relationship management for Morrison's Australian clients, including leading capital raising and new product development.

Commenting on her appointment, Buckingham, said, "I'm thrilled to be joining the Morrison & Co Board at such an exciting time for the business. The firm has an impressive track record of investing in essential infrastructure that addresses the long-term needs of society while delivering strong returns for investors. I'm looking forward to supporting the firm at this pivotal point in its global expansion."

Morrison & Co takes a high-conviction approach to investment, backing long-term secular trends such as decarbonisation, ageing and digital connectivity.
