The ASX board has announced the appointment of Rob Priestley as a non-executive director, effective 17 May 2017. Priestley will stand for election at the ASX AGM on 26 September 2017.

Commenting on the appointment, ASX chair Rick Holliday-Smith said: "The Board and I are delighted that Rob has agreed to join the ASX Board. He has over 30 years' experience in the financial services industry and has worked in capital markets around the world. As a former CEO he has strong leadership, strategy and governance skills, and his international and local experience will bring valuable insights into the needs and concerns of the financial institutions that are ASX's customers."

Priestley was previously CEO of J.P. Morgan Australia & New Zealand, and a member of the bank's Asia Pacific Management Committee, before his decision to step away from day to day management responsibilities and move into the role of non-executive chair in May 2017.

Holliday-Smith foreshadowed at the 2016 ASX AGM that the board would appoint an additional non-executive director following the appointment of Dominic Stevens as ASX's CEO.
