Former EQT head joins 8IP board

Eight Investment Partners (8IP) has announced the appointment of Robin Burns as an independent director on its 8IP Emerging Companies' board (8EC).

Burns has almost 30 years' leadership experience in the financial services sector. Previously, he was the managing director and CEO of Equity Trustees, a role that he was appointed to in 2010 and left in 2016.

Prior to this, he was the CEO of Equip and CEO, risk at AXA Australia. He currently serves as a director of Indue and was appointed as a member of the PIMCO Australia Compliance Committee in February 2017.

Commenting on his appointment, 8IP chair, Jonathan Sweeney said: "We are excited to welcome Robin Burns to the board and look forward to working with him to the benefit of 8EC shareholders."

He is joined on the board by Wilson Asset Management (WAM) chair and founder, Geoff Wilson. Wilson's appointment follows news that WAM has entered into a strategic partnership to support 8EC. WAM and its associates are shareholders in 8EC.
