Global investment management firm, PIMCO, has announced that it has internalised Responsible Entity (RE) function for its $10+ billion managed funds complex, making it one of the largest RE transitions in Australia's financial services history.

PIMCO has become RE for all 12 funds available to Australian investors. The firm has also established a statutory compliance committee for the governance of the funds and appointed Robin Burns as one of three new independent members.

Burns has over 30 years' experience as a senior executive in financial services and was most recently the chief executive officer at Equity Trustees, a role he left in July 2016.

He is joined on the committee by experienced board members Christine Feldmanis and Penni James.

Commenting on the changes, PIMCO's head of Australia and New Zealand, Adrian Stewart, said: "PIMCO's compliance committee consists of an unrivalled group of independent members whose skills, experience, qualifications and insights in operations, compliance, auditing and risk will be a valuable input to our compliance plan."
