Former AMP Head of Investment Strategy launches consultancy

After 30 years' working in the finance industry, most recently as head of investment strategy for AMP Advice, Brad Matthews has launched his own consultancy, Brad Matthews Investment Strategies (BMIS).

Commenting on the new business, Matthews said: "BMIS aims to provide assistance to financial planning practices in developing their investment philosophy and creating portfolio solutions consistent with this philosophy."

Matthews' career began in the money and foreign exchange markets of the mid-1980s. He then held various economist roles at St.George Bank before moving into executive management positions including leading the bank's cards and ATMs division. Prior to establishing BMIS in October 2015, Matthews spent 12 years at the AMP Group where he worked as head of research and then head of investment strategy for the firm's financial planning licensees.

For the past 23 years, Matthews has also been editor of a newsletter known as "Plain English Economics", which is read by secondary students studying economics.
