First Sentier Investors has announced the appointment of David Allen to the role of global head of investment management.

He will replace Perry Clausen who is retiring early next year.

Allen joins from AMP Capital where he was most recently head of equities based in London.

Before this, he held senior investment leadership roles at Sarasin and Partners, Fidelity International, and Pioneer Investments.

In these roles, he led teams across a wide range of capabilities, including equities, fixed income, multi-asset, environmental, social, governance (ESG), dealing, risk management, and operations.

In his new role, Allen will lead First Sentier Investors' investment teams, excluding FSSA Investment Managers and Stewart Investors, and will contribute to the development and execution of the firm's corporate strategy.

He would also play a key role in optimising investment capabilities for the business.

In his new role, Allen would be responsible and accountable for achieving the $247 billion fund's gender diversity target for women to represent at least 40 percent of its investment management staff by 2033.

The target is part of First Sentier's public commitment to the Financial Services Council's Women in Investment Management Charter.

"David will play an important role in partnering with investment teams to ensure we continue to offer relevant products and strong investment performance for our clients and capitalise on our growth potential across global markets," said First Sentier Investors chief executive, Mark Steinberg.
