First Super has announced the departure of long-serving employer representative director and former co-chair Allan Stewart, effective 30 June 2019.

Stewart has made a "highly significant contribution to First Super over three decades", the fund said. He was on the board of forerunner fund TISS from 1992 to 2008, and served a further 11 years on First Super's board, including eight years as co-chair.

First Super CEO Bill Watson said of his departure: "We wish Allan well on his retirement from the First Super board and thank him for his stewardship of our fund over an extended period of time. We know that Allan will continue to make a contribution to the timber industry through his presidency of the Timber Trade Industrial Association, and additionally to sport in Canberra though his presidency of the Federal Golf Club."

Stewart is succeeded by regional businesswoman Robyn Burns.
