First State Super appoints Head of Technology

First State Super has confirmed to Industry Moves the appointment of Richard Exton as head of technology, effective 10 July 2017.

In this role, Exton is responsible for driving further transformation of the technology function to support the delivery of the fund's "member first" philosophy.

He joins from Macquarie Bank where he spent two years as the division director of technology for global market operations. Prior to this, he was head of technology E*TRADE at ANZ for five years, and before that was based in China with the Commonwealth Bank as general manager, technology North Asia and chief information officer within Bank of Hangzhou (in which the CBA had a strategic investment).

A spokesperson for the fund said: "Richard has deep experience building technology teams in financial services and has led the development and integration of technology platforms within institutional global markets, online trading, managed funds, insurance and retail banking where digital customer experience has been top of mind."

Exton replaced former head of technology, Tanya Freeman, who left the fund in January 2017.
