First State Super has announced the appointment of Michael Cole to the $90 billion industry fund's investment committee. He is the first non-board director to join the committee.
Cole is currently the chair of Ironbark Capital and Platinum Asset Management. Previously, he served as chair of SAS Trustee Corporation (from 2000 to 2007) and Challenger (from 2008 to 2014), and as a director with the NSW Treasury Corporation (from 2002 to 2009).
Commenting on his appointment, First State Super chair, Neil Cochrane, said: "Michael's extensive experience in the investment and finance sectors, along with his background in government, will be of immense value to the committee."
Cole added: "The Fund has established a strong investment team and has financed a range of important projects which will provide enduring benefits to members and the wider economy. I look forward to contributing to the further growth of the portfolio and supporting First State Super's investment framework."
He will join board directors and fellow investment committee members, Neil Cochrane, Jocelyn Furlan, Ralph Kelly, Dr Rosemary Kelly and Mark Lennon.
