Australian fixed income broker, FIIG Securities, has announced the departure of Mark Paton from the role of CEO and managing director, effective immediately.

Paton joined FIIG in December 2012. Prior to this he spent four years with Westpac where he was Victorian state manager for commercial banking. He has also held executive positions with ANZ including managing director - corporate division.

According to FIIG, Paton is exploring a potential role at Gieldan Capital, the alternate debt joint venture between FIIG & MH Carnegie.

Commenting on Paton's departure, FIIG chair, Douglas Bates, thanked Paton for his contribution over the last four years.

"Mark has played a key role in the growth and success of the company over the last four years and we wish him well for the future."

FIIG's founding director, Jim Stening, will step into the position as acting managing director while the search for a new CEO is underway.
