Fidelity International has appointed Marty Dropkin to the newly created role of equities head for Asia-Pacific.

Reporting to the firm's global investment chief Andrew McCaffery, Dropkin will lead the Asia-based equities team and ensure strategic connectivity across regions.

In line with Fidelity's commitment to sustainable investing, Dropkin will also ensure sustainability principles continue to be integrated into the equity investment process.

Dropkin was the firm's Hong Kong-based head of Asian fixed income, overseeing the management of $25 billion of Asia fixed income client assets.

He has been with Fidelity for 12 years in several leadership roles. Previous roles include managing equities and fixed income teams in Asia, the UK and the US.

Before joining Fidelity, Dropkin worked at Grotevant Research Partners, Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch.

"As we look to further cement Fidelity's reputation as a leading provider of equity investment capabilities in Asia and globally, Marty's depth of investment knowledge, breadth of experience and strong track record will be invaluable," said McCaffery.

"He has demonstrated excellent leadership throughout his time at Fidelity and will be instrumental in our continued drive to deliver investment performance for our clients and to place sustainability considerations at the heart of everything we do."

The new head of equities will continue to be based in Hong Kong whilst spending additional time travelling around the region.

The asset manager has started the search for a replacement for Dropkin in his fixed income role.
