Former Liberal MP Kelly O'Dwyer has joined the board of Equity Trustees.

O'Dwyer, who was in the Australian Parliament for nine years from the federal seat for Higgins, spent time as a Cabinet Minister and was the Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations as well as Minister for Women. It was these qualifications and her work in law, governance, and finance with Freehills and NAB, that made her an attractive addition to the board. "Kelly's track record in leadership and senior roles at the highest level of government is well-recorded," said EQT Holdings chair Carol Schwartz.

"[O'Dwyer] brings a combination of deep understanding of government and policy, with a focus on economic and tax policy, Australia's financial framework, corporate governance, risk and compliance, and significant leadership experience. Her experience in reforming the superannuation system and financial services, and her work in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation will bring new perspectives and ideas to the Equity Trustees board room," said Schwartz.

In addition to her executive and political career, O'Dwyer has been on the board of the ASX-listed Home Consortium and sits on the school council of the Caulfield Grammar School. O'Dwyer will sit on the EQT Holdings' risk committee.

O'Dwyer replaces Jim Minto, who steps down after more than four years on the board.
