Ahead of its merger with LGIAsuper, Energy Super has announced that chief executive Robyn Petrou will leave the organisation in July.

"Robyn has done an outstanding job leading Energy Super during more than a decade of unparalleled industry and regulatory change and delivered great outcomes for our members," said Energy Super chair Richard Flanagan. "Her contribution to the fund will continue through the planned transition period, and both she and [LGIAsuper CEO Kate Farrar] are committed to working together to ensure this merger is a success for our people and our members."

Farrar will become the chief executive for the joint fund on 1 July.

Petrou has been chief executive of Energy Super since early 2009. She previously was a manager for compliance and operations at Asset Super, which merged with CareSuper in 2012. She has also been a director for the Fund Executives Association Limited (FEAL) since 2008. In 2013, she was named FEAL Fund Executive of the Year.
