Energy Super appoints GM Strategy

Energy Super has appointed Michael Abbott to the newly-created role of general manager strategy. The appointment is one of the three new general manager appointments made as part of a restructure at the $6 billion industry super fund.

Abbott has more than 25 years' experience in managerial roles across the finance and superannuation industries. Previously the group strategy manager at QSuper, Abbott has experience in leading the strategy development and delivery of quality advice and financial service platforms.

In a statement, the fund said: "Mr Abbott's new role will see him develop a sophisticated financial growth strategy for Energy Super, to further grow the brand's existing member base and shape the fund's future investments."

Joining Abbott are: Phil McCarthy, former head of member services at QSuper, who has been appointed general manager member engagement and development; and David Beal, who has been appointed general manager digital transformation & analytics.

Commenting on the appointments, Energy Super CEO Robyn Petrou said: "With almost 70 years' combined experience across the energy, finance and government sectors - Michael, Phil, and David bring substantial expertise in member service delivery and communication, technology and strategic growth."
