Downey takes on GM role with MLC Life

Michael Downey, who left MLC Australia as GM of advice partnerships in mid-2020, has been named the new GM of retail distribution partnership with MLC Life Insurance.

Downey started with MLC more than 14 years ago, as a national manager for wealth protection products. He also held roles with TAL and AXA.

"I am delighted that Michael has joined us as we enter the final phase of our technology upgrade," said MLC Life chief life insurance officer Michael Rogers. "His deep experience and leadership skills will be central to delivering our retail distribution strategy and management."

Downey says he's thrilled to be joining MLC Life Insurance. "I've a long-standing admiration for this iconic Australian life insurer, which is soon poised to leverage its significant investment in technology in order to excel in servicing licensees and advisers. I'm looking forward to leading the distribution and adviser servicing team."

Downey replaces current retail distribution partnerships general manager Russell Hannah.
