Director to leave AMP Board

AMP has announced that Peter Shergold will retire from the board at the conclusion of its annual general meeting on 11 May 2017.

Shergold joined AMP in 2008 and during his tenure has held positions as a non-executive director of AMP Limited and chair of its Risk Committee, and as a non-executive director of the AMP Life and AMP Bank boards.

Previously, Shergold was secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet; CEO of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission; and CEO of Comcare, the Federal Government agency responsible for workplace safety, rehabilitation and compensation.

Commenting on Shergold's departure, AMP chair, Catherine Brenner, said: "Peter has made a significant contribution to AMP over the past decade across our boards, bringing considerable insight and acumen. We have benefited greatly from his expertise and wish him all the best for the future."
