AMP Capital has announced the appointment of Richard Colquhoun as a senior portfolio manager assuming responsibility for the Equity Opportunities Fund and Concentrated Fund. He will join the Australian Fundamental Equities team in January 2016. Colquhoun was previously an investment manager for Antares Capital where he had portfolio management responsibilities for both long-only equity and long-short active extension portfolios.
In an announcement which also included the appointment of David Allen as AMP Capital's global head of equities, and an acknowledgement of the resignation of a number of the AMP Capital's multi-strategy equities team, chief Investment officer Mark Beardow said of Colquhoun's appointment:
"I am also pleased to welcome Richard to AMP Capital. The Australian Fundamental Equities team has a proven investment process that has resulted in excellent performance for all its strategies during the course of the year. Richard has a strong background in constructing and managing long-short equity portfolios, particularly with regard to risk management of short positions, and is the right cultural fit for the team."
