Citi's local head of debt capital markets Ian Campbell has been appointed head of sustainability and corporate transactions for the bank's capital markets and advisory business.

Campbell will be responsible for BCMA's sustainability, ESG strategy, and client engagement in Australia and New Zealand.

He will continue to be involved in Citi's ANZ debt capital market business as the vice-chair, which is a newly created role.

The changes were announced in an internal staff memo sent by Citi's local BCMA head Tony Osmond and Australian chief executive Marc Luet.

"In this new role, Ian will lead BCMA's sustainability and ESG strategy and client engagement in Australia and NZ," Citi said in the staff note.

"Ian will work closely with our sector and product team members to drive strategic sustainability dialogue and maximize the business opportunities generated by the clean energy transition and the global shift towards more sustainable business practices."

Campbell will be replaced by Ollie Williams who will report to Osmond.

"Ollie has been at Citi for over 10 years and has played an integral role in our Australia / NZ DCM franchise ranking #1 in its field over the past five years," Citi told staff.

In a LinkedIn post, Campbell said he was delighted to be named the new head of sustainability and corporate transactions for Citi Australia and New Zealand.

"I'll be joining my colleagues, and Global SCT co-heads, Keith Tuffley, and Bridget Fawcett, in helping our clients tackle the challenges and explore the opportunities a low carbon economy presents as we transition towards more sustainable business practices," he said.

"There's no doubt that ESG is firmly front and centre in the boardrooms of corporate Australia, and I'm excited about the next phase."
