Mark England joins as head of the local securities services business along with Mark Woodruff who has been promoted to head of markets

England's appointment follows the retirement of long-serving executive Martin Carpenter and Woodruff will replace Luke Randell who announced his retirement in March.

England, who is currently co-head of sales for Citi Securities Services will relocate from Citi's Hong Kong office and will lead the securities services function for Australia and New Zealand while keeping his existing regional responsibilities.

Commenting on the appointment, Citi Australia and New Zealand chief executive Marc Luet said his industry knowledge will be a great asset as Citi strengthens its leadership position and growth plans in the securities services sector.

"Mark is one of the most senior leaders in the securities services business, with 20+ years experience in different roles across New York, Dublin, London, and Hong Kong," he said

"With a significant number of additional opportunities ahead of us in Australia, we are delighted to locate a senior regional role out of Sydney as a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the market."

For his part, Woodruff is currently head of investor sales for Australia and New Zealand and will retain these responsibilities while also developing regional product delivery strategies.

Luet noted Woodruff's two-decade-long career with the US banking giant, during which he ran FX and corporate derivatives sales.

"In this role, Mark has consistently increased franchise revenue and market share by driving key client segment initiatives, particularly across superannuation funds and financial intermediaries.

Finally, the local Citi head acknowledged Carpenter's role in building the securities services franchise across Australia and New Zealand.

"From a sub-custody only focused business employing approximately 30 staff at the start of his tenure, securities services is now a multi-product franchise, employing upwards of 340 staff onshore and offshore, ranked #2 in the industry, and generating significant revenues.

"The success of this business is a testament to Martin's character and hands-on leadership approach. Martin has played an integral role in Citi's business for almost two decades. We thank him for his dedication and commitment to success and wish him well in the next chapter of his life."

Luet also thanked Randell who has been at Citi for 31 years.

"Luke Randell has had a distinguished career with Citi, spanning more than three decades, and has worked across Australasia, the Asia Pacific, and EMEA regions in sales, structuring, research and capital markets," he said.

"We would like to thank Luke for his contribution to the franchise over the years and wish him all the best in his next endeavours."
