Citi appoints Head of APAC and EMEA Technology from Westpac

Citi has announced the appointment of Jayne Opperman as head of APAC and EMEA technology, effective January 2018.

In her new role, Opperman will be based in Singapore and, according to Citi, "will be responsible for setting the vision and overall IT direction for the 17 country markets in the APAC and EMEA region."

Opperman has 25 years' technology leadership experience in the financial services industry. She is currently the general manager of business integration at Westpac and prior to this held a variety of roles, most notably as the Australia chief information officer (CIO) at ANZ and as the CIO of retail banking at Lloyds Banking Group.

In welcoming Opperman, Citi also acknowledged the contribution of Sanjeev Mehra who has served as the interim head of APAC and EMEA technology since July 2017, replacing Shamus Weiland who relocated to Citi's New York office to take on the role of managing director, head of North America, consumer technology.

Westpac has confirmed that Opperman finishes up at Westpac on 22 December. Her replacement will be Anastasia Cammaroto, currently Westpac's chief information officer, consumer bank.
