Argo Investments has announced the appointment of Chris Cuffe as a non-executive director of its board.

Cuffe replaces long-standing director, Rob Patterson, who is set to retire when his current term expires in October 2016.

He is currently involved in a portfolio of activities including managing public and private investments, a number of directorships and various roles assisting the non-profit sector. He is chair of UniSuper, and a non-executive director of Global Value Fund and Antipodes Global Investment Company Limited.

Commenting on Cuffe's appointment, Argo's chair, Ian Martin, said: "the board is very pleased to make this appointment, following an external search process which identified that Mr. Cuffe's wealth of experience and impressive track record in the investment management industry make him ideally suited to joining Argo's Board".

Cuffe previously worked as CEO for both Colonial First State in 1990, and Challenger Financial Services Group in 2003.
