Chris Brookman lands at VC firm

Chris Brookman has popped up at early-stage venture capital fund Tidal Ventures one month after leaving Pinnacle Investment Management.

The venture capital company focuses on product-led start-ups in sectors like cyber security and e-commerce enablement.

Brookman farewelled his colleagues at Pinnacle in a LinkedIn post and said he was "getting excited" about his new position.

"An exceptional opportunity has presented itself for me to realise a long-held career aspiration," he said.

Brookman has a track record of raising capital for several managers, including Winton Capital, Arrowstreet Capital, Independent Franchise Partners, Walter Scott, Resolution Capital, Aikya and Macquarie.

At Pinnacle, he served as distribution director and will take on the same role at the venture capital firm.

There, he led the strategic accounts team, including research houses, platforms, consultants, and family offices.

He also led the distribution effort for affiliates Longwave, Aikya and Five V, and contributed to the launch of several new products across the group.

Brookman arrived at Pinnacle after setting up Altive's Australian business and introducing the firm to the local Australian private wealth market.

Before that, Brookman spent 13 years at Macquarie Group, most recently as head of research and strategic accounts for the firm's asset management business.

He joined Macquarie from ING Australia, where he was a research analyst.
