Challenger appoints Independent Director

Challenger has announced the appointment of Duncan West as an independent director of both the Challenger and Challenger Life boards, effective immediately.

West, who has over 30 years' experience in the insurance and financial services sector, currently sits on the board of Genworth Mortgage Insurance. Previously, he was executive general manager of insurance for NAB Wealth and MLC, and served as CEO of both Vero Insurance and CGU Insurance.

In welcoming him to Challenger, chair, Peter Polson, said: "[Duncan] brings significant commercial acumen and expertise, including deep knowledge of the Australian and global insurance sector, that will contribute to the mix of skills and perspectives of the board."

Challenger has also announced that long-serving independent director, Graham Cubbin, will not be seeking re-election at the firm's AGM in October.
