Challenger appoints former Aberdeen fixed income head

Challenger has appointed Victor Rodriguez as head of fixed income, effective 18 April 2017, responsible for leading the team that manages a fixed income portfolio for Challenger Life Company and third party investors.

Rodriguez joins Challenger from Aberdeen Asset Management where he was most recently the firm's Singapore-based head of fixed income for Asia Pacific. Previously, he led the fixed income business for Aberdeen in Australia.

Before joining Aberdeen in 2009, Rodriguez worked at Credit Suisse Asset Management (Australia), holding a number of fixed income roles.

Commenting on his appointment, Challenger chief executive funds management, Ian Saines, said: "Victor's experience as an investor as well as in leading business development opportunities, along with his extensive leadership experience, positions him well to guide our plans for growth. His skills and experience are complementary to those of our current, exceptional team."

Rodriguez succeeds long-serving former head of fixed income at Challenger, Bob Sahota, who joined Kapstream Capital in December 2016 as a portfolio manager and head of direct lending.
