Grant Samuel Funds Management (GSFM) has announced the departure of chair, Doug Bartlett, effective 1 July 2017.

Bartlett has over 25 years' corporate finance experience. He joined Grant Samuel Group in 1991 and assumed responsibility for advising clients on a variety of matters including strategy, public company takeovers, schemes of arrangement, trade sales, mergers, capital raisings, initial public offerings and corporate restructures. In 2007 he was appointed as chair of GSFM.

Prior to joining Grant Samuel Group, he was an executive director of Byvest, Australia's first management buyout fund. Before that, he was a consultant at Pappas Carter Evans & Koop (now The Boston Consulting Group). He started his career as a consulting engineer, working for four years in Australia and the United States on mining, infrastructure and building projects.

GSFM's CEO, Andrew McKinnon, will step into the role of executive chair, replacing Bartlett, and head of distribution, Damien McIntyre, will step into the role of CEO.

Commenting on Bartlett's departure, McKinnon said: "Doug has presided over the business since its inception. With his support assets under management have grown to $6.4 billion, and the number of fund manager partners has grown to five."

Bartlett will remain as a director on the GSFM board.
