CFA Socieities name Sydney president, board leadership

CFA Society Sydney has announced that current State Super deputy chief investment officer Charles Wu has been appointed as the organisation's new president.

Wu, who has been with State Super for more than four years, has a long history with CFA Societies Australia. He first joined the organisation as a board director in 2011 and became vice president in 2017.

"I am excited for this extraordinary opportunity to serve my fellow members, volunteers and the greater finance community as I begin my term as President of CFA Society Sydney," said Wu. "I look forward to deepening our impact locally and nationally."

Wu has held senior investment roles with Media Super and Mercer.

CFA Society Sydney also added several new names to its board of directors, including:

  • Macquarie Investment Management's Raj Gohil as vice president
  • Principle Advisory Services' James Cowper as treasurer
  • Q Super head of investment performance Rein van Rooyen as Brisbane director.

CFA Society Melbourne also made several appointments, including:

  • Financial Viewpoint founder Brett Elvish as treasurer
  • HESTA's former chief investment officer Rob Fowler as programming chair.
