Cbus Super has appointed a new deputy chief investment officer and created four new roles as part of a "refreshed strategy."

The $85 billion superfund has created chief strategy, transformation, operating and people officer positions.

Alexandra Campbell is the fund's new deputy chief investment officer and head of private markets, reporting to investment chief Brett Chatfield.

Campbell has been leading the infrastructure and private market teams after joining Cbus three years ago.

She has held senior positions at AustralianSuper, Avoca Capital Advisors and Hastings Funds Management, as well as having held multiple board positions, including for NSW Ports, Perth Airport, Northern Territory Airports, Queensland Airports, Port of Geelong and Metro Transport Sydney.

The new role of strategy chief has gone to Alexandra West - previously head of strategy for investments for seven years.

West will now oversee enterprise strategy and performance, enterprise positioning as well as enterprise advocacy and public affairs.

Meanwhile, three other staff have new titles.

Nancy Day is the fund's new operating chief after overseeing investments, Natalie Hannemann is promoted to chief transformation officer, from head of service, and Justine Hartman has stepped into the role of chief people officer.

Cbus chief executive Kristian Fok said the new appointments were crucial steps for enacting a renewed strategy for the fund.

"The new roles and a re-invigorated business unit model will support the fund's future development, so Cbus is always the organisation we want and need to be for our members.

"We've had a period of growth through mergers that have increased our member base and our reach into the media, arts, print, energy and electrical sectors.

"We need to continue to be on the front foot about how we evolve Cbus, aligning our operational capabilities so we can set ourselves up for future growth and continued long-term investment performance, and have a strategic focus on the way we work."
