Cbus hires governance expert from Insignia

Cbus Super has confirmed the hire of Jennifer Vanderwaals as senior manager of policy and governance sitting within the investment team.

Eight months ago, Vanderwaals finished up at MLC Asset Management after over 20 years working within the MLC/IOOF/Insignia Financial Group.

Most recently, she was head of governance where she worked with senior management to ensure that product and governance frameworks were effective.

"As for my next steps, I've taken some time to relax and have some long lunches ... and am now open to governance and product opportunities," she posted on LinkedIn on departing.

After a short stint at Perpetual Corporate Trust, where she oversaw all aspects of the design and disclosure obligations regime, Vanderwaals moved to the superannuation fund for workers in the construction industry.

In the new role at Cbus, she will once again develop policies and procedures to meet regulatory and group requirements to ensure the appropriate treatment of client portfolios.

Specifically, the investment governance specialist will manage the investment governance framework to address APRA's regulatory requirements of the Cbus' Trustee business operations and obligations to members.

She will work closely with directors of the Trustee and Investment Committee and consult with senior stakeholders within investments and across the fund.
