Cbus Super has added Antony Thow to the executive team to help spearhead the super fund's growth strategy.

In the role of group executive brand, growth, and product, Thow will oversee brand, growth, marketing, and communications, together with public affairs, industry partnerships, product development, and advocacy.

His appointment follows the resignation of Robbie Campo who was appointed chief executive of ESSSuper at the beginning of May.

Cbus chief executive Justin Arter said the importance of growth to the super fund is reflected in Thow's title.

Arter added that Cbus is well-positioned for the next growth phase that will see funds under management climb to $150 billion.

"Having the right team in place is essential for the journey of the fund and to maximise opportunities to deliver for our members.

"I'm delighted someone with Antony's experience, and credentials will be joining the fund, Antony having held roles in industry super for 17 years."

Thow's previous roles include deputy chief executive and chief operating officer at LUCRF Super.

Also, he was a trustee director for LUCRF Super from 2005 to 2010.

Thow has also held board and member council roles on the Australian Council of Super Investors, including as the vice president.

Earlier, he served as the Victorian organiser for the National Union Workers from 1994 to 2010.

Commenting on his appointment Thow said: "I'm excited to be joining Cbus and am looking forward to working with Cbus' members, unions, employers, staff, and trustees."

He will join Cbus in mid-July 2022.
