The JBWere board has appointed Cathryn Carver as chair, succeeding Michael Saadie, who will remain on the board.

Carver is currently an executive for client coverage in the lender's corporate and institutional division.

Irvine added that Saadie is stepping down to focus on leading NAB's private wealth arm.

Irvine welcomed Carver to the role calling her a respected leader, bringing with her a wealth of experience in financial services.

"Cathryn's long history of leading world-class teams, coupled with her extensive global knowledge, make her the ideal candidate for the role," he said.

"We look forward to the diversity of thought and skills she will bring."

in a LinkedIn post, Carver said she looked forward to joining a fantastic team that's been helping clients in Australia and New Zealand protect and grow their wealth since 1840.

Carver joined NAB in 2016 as executive general manager of corporate & specialised banking.

Shortly after, she was promoted to acting chief customer officer of corporate & institutional banking before moving to her current role.

Before joining NAB seven years ago, she held a similar position at ANZ for ten years.

Earlier she worked for Macquarie Group as head of capital markets.

Carver also leads NAB's Affordable Housing Council and is a member of the NAB Ventures Investment Committee and Chief Executive Women.
