Westpac has announced that Peter Hawkins will retire from the bank's board at the conclusion of its AGM on 12 December 2018.
Hawkins, who joined the Westpac board in December 2008, also served as chair of the board technology committee from April 2011 until December 2017 and as a member of the Bank of Melbourne advisory board from its establishment in November 2010.
In acknowledging his contribution, Westpac chair, Lindsay Maxsted, said: "Peter is a respected business and community leader having held many senior positions in the financial services industry in Australia and overseas. In addition to leveraging this extensive industry experience, his wise counsel has been invaluable, particularly over a period of significant change."
Hawkins added: "It has been a privilege to serve on the Westpac Board and work with the executive team. I look forward to my ongoing involvement with the Group through the Bank of Melbourne and wish Westpac and all its employees every future success."
Hawkins will continue as a member of the Bank of Melbourne advisory board.
