Poynton joined Class in 2018 as strategic alliances director and, in 2019, became the chief strategy officer. He previously spent nearly two decades with Macquarie Group in a variety of roles including division director of the wealth product strategy and head of commercial management for Wrap. He also was the company director of UKForex, part of the OzForex Group and was an analyst programmer with NAB.

In his new role with BetaShares, Poynton will look after strategy and corporate development functions. "I am delighted to join such a high calibre team and be part of this exciting phase of growth at BetaShares. I look forward to helping the firm further extend the breadth of quality solutions for its clients."

In comments to Industry Moves, Class CEO Andrew Russell said, "With the core components of our Reimagination Strategy now delivered or in-flight, after three years with Class, Glenn Poynton has decided to leave to explore the next phase of his career in corporate strategy development.

"Glenn is a respected industry professional and among the many highlights in his career at Class, Glenn's leadership to successfully acquire three businesses over a 12-month period will stand as an appropriate legacy. I'd like to thank Glenn for the significant contribution he has made to Class."

Poynton's strategy role will be moved to the CFO and be handled by the CFO and company secretary.
