Barclays has hired former JPMorgan debt capital markets specialist Duncan Beattie as managing director of investment banking in Australia, reporting to country head Richard Satchwell.

Barclays said Beattie would focus on delivering international capital markets financing for clients in Australia and New Zealand.

He was most recently J.P. Morgan's head of financial institutions group and co-head of debt capital markets for 16 years. Here, he managed debt origination and execution for a range of borrowers.

Barclays has also hired Duncan Connellan as a managing director - to deliver leveraged finance, acquisition finance, and structured financing solutions to clients.

For his part, Connellan rejoins Barclays from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. where he ran strategic and acquisition finance in Australia and New Zealand for more than four years.

"Duncan Beattie and Duncan Connellan are outstanding additions to our investment banking team, said Satchwell.

"Their deep industry relationships and extensive transactional experience will generate tremendous value for our corporate and institutional clients in Australia and New Zealand."
