A former Aware Super private equity analyst has taken up a new role at Bain Capital based in London.

Lillian Lin has joined the multi-asset alternative investment firm as an associate covering European special situations.

Lin worked at Aware Super for about two years as lead portfolio analyst within the private equity team.

Interestingly, she joined Bain as the super fund established a UK office to hunt for European property, infrastructure, and private equity deals.

AustralianSuper, which opened a London office in 2016, last week flagged its intention to expand its London real assets team.

Before joining Aware Super, Lin worked at Macquarie Group as an executive.

Previously, she held a senior corporate assurance role at KPMG and a transaction services position at Grant Thornton's Shanghai office.

In 2021, she became a chartered accountant after completing the requirements set by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

This was on top of completing the Alteryx Designer Core certification and clearing all three levels of the CFA program.

This journey was nothing short of challenging, but it has been entirely worth it," she posted on social media.
"The countless late nights of studying, the dedication, and the unwavering commitment that I put into preparing for each level tested my limits in ways I couldn't have imagined.

Most recently, in 2023, she completed the ILPA Institute's Private Equity for the Limited Partner course and Bloomberg's BWBN Python Bootcamp.

Lin is the second private equity specialist working at one of the country's largest asset owners to head to London this year.

After seven years of working in Australia, Future Fund emerging markets director Caroline Gorman left the sovereign wealth fund to check out the job scene in London.
